Frequently Asked Questions

Is there anything I need to do to prepare before my detail visit?

We ask that you remove any non essential items from the car. Any trash, personal belongings, car seats, toys, bags, blankets, etc should be taken out. Our team can remove this for you, but we will add on an additional cost due to timing.

You will receive a text notification when we are en route. Please provide any special instructions (parking, gate codes, remote access, etc) prior to arrival. We also ask that you are present and have the keys for us ready to go to get started. Sometime we may need to slightly pull your car forward or backwards to ensure full cleaning of the rims/tires.

Please ensure the car is fine to remain in position for the entirety of the appointment. If there are cars that need to come/go from garages or driveways, please take care of that before we arrive.

Is the price I see online the price that I will pay when my detail is done?

While we do our best to provide accurate online pricing, vehicle condition can vary significantly. As a result, a percentage of vehicles require additional time due to factors such as excessive pet hair, heavy carpet or seat staining, or elevated buildup from children or frequent use. In these cases, pricing will be adjusted to fairly reflect the additional labor required. Any adjustments are based solely on vehicle condition and time, not on arbitrary or hidden fees.

Do you have somewhere I can drop off my car?

NC DETAIL does not have a physical shop, so we are unable to accept any vehicles for drop off. The address on our page indicates our city location and service areas for customer reference

If you are in the city of Walnut Creek, or adjacent, we have access to an abandon lot that we accept appointments at from time to time. We can arrange this for you if you like.

Why is your service so expensive?

At NC DETAIL we believe premium service should come at a premium price. We take special care and attention with each vehicle that we service and stand by our exceptional workmanship. Additionally, at NC DETAIL we don’t do anything “quick” or “express”. We aren’t your in and out Ducky’s car wash. We spend several hours, on average, per vehicle to get it looking and feeling its best. Many of our customers, in fact, comment how their car looks “Better than the day I bought it” when we are finished with it.

What payment type do you accept?

We accept cash, check ,Venmo, Zelle, & Credit Cards (3% fee)

What cities do you service?

NC Detail caters to select cities in Contra Costa County including Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Danville, Alamo, San Ramon, Pleasanton, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pacheco, Clayton, Martinez.

We will travel to cities outside of this area for a fee of $1/Mile round trip.

Do you offer any scratch or swirl removal?

Yes! Surface scratches and swirl marks are certainly treatable here at NC DETAIL. We can machine polish these out to provide a deep gloss and shine to your paint. Please call our text us with the year make and model of your vehicle and we will ask you a few questions to get a sense of the condition of your car, and our approach to correcting the scratches and swirls.

What if I just want a quick vacuum and wipe down and don’t need the “full detailing” package?

While an "express wash" or "quick cleaning" aren't something we offer, we always like to provide flexibility to our clients. So please reach out for specifics and we will try to make something fit for you!

Can you detail at an apartment?

Yes! We are more than capable of performing detailing services at apartment complexes. Prior to scheduling, we kindly request you to verify with your apartment management for any potential restrictions on vehicle detailing or maintenance activities on-site. Additionally, please ensure there is ample space to comfortably access all sides of the vehicle, including opening all four doors and the trunk. We will also require a designated area to park the NC Detail vehicle as well.

Do you require water and power access?

While we can provide power and water for certain vehicles, our system operates best if we have access to a power outlet and water spigot. If these are not available, please give us a call or text to discuss the options!

What if i need to move or cancel my appointment?

We understand that things come up last minute, or that some customers simply have a change of heart. No problem. All we ask is that you notify us within 72hours if you have to cancel your appointment. This gives us ample time to back fill your appointment slot appropriately.

What is a clay bar treatment?

As you drive, your vehicle collects little particulates of embedded contamination on the paint- things like pollutants, micro sap, rail dust, brake dust, etc. Over time these pollutants build up and create a rough, sandpapery like feel to the paint. With enough time, this causes damage to your clear coat, and can lead to premature clear coat (and paint) failure.

A basic car wash, or even pressure washing won’t remove these pollutants. You can only remove the contamination with a clay bar service (commonly called Clay). While there are many types of Clay (Clay Bars, Clay Mits, Clay Towels, Clay Sponges) they all essentially do the same thing- they rid your paint of those pesky contaminants.

Simply put, your detail technician will take the appropriate Clay device and gently glide it across your paint, exfoliating and lifting the embedded particulates from the clear coat. This leaves the surface of your car feeling glassy smooth and ready for a good wax/sealant.
